What is Title IX?

Title IX is a federal civil rights law that states:

鈥淣o person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.鈥

When to Contact the Coordinator

Students should contact the Coordinator or Representative to:

  • Seek information about rights and available actions

  • File a complaint or report sexual misconduct

  • Notify the University of incidents or concerns

  • Access confidential resources and support services

  • Ask about university policies and procedures

Investigation Process

When a report is filed, the Coordinator oversees a thorough and impartial investigation that includes:

  • Conducting interviews with all parties鈥
  • Informing parties about the grievance process
  • Establishing witness credibility鈥
  • Evaluating evidence impartially鈥
  • Determining sanctions when violations occur鈥
  • Connecting survivors with resources
