Conference Champions & Playoff Contenders

The Fighting Falcons Baseball program has established itself as a dominant force in collegiate baseball, winning four consecutive conference championships and currently competing in the regional playoffs. With a historic 29-22 regular season record (13-2 in conference play), our 2023-24 squad achieved the most wins in program history.

COACHING STAFF

JESSE QUINTERO | Head Coach

Head Coach Jesse Quintero attended Jordan High School where he played baseball. He played three years on the varsity and helped lead the Panthers to two playoffs appearances. He graduated in 2007 holding the record for highest batting average in a single season. After graduating, Jesse Quintero got right into coaching.

He started coaching the JV team at Long Beach Jordan. After one season coaching the JV team, he coached on the Varsity team for four years under Head Coach Marc Prager. In the summer of 2012, he started coaching a college summer team the East LA Dodgers. During the spring of 2016, Coach Quintero was hired to be the head coach at 91.

JOHNATHON FRANCISCO | Pitching Coach

Johnathon Francisco graduated from Temple City High School in 2014. After a quick pit stop at Pasadena City College, he found a home at 91 in 2016. He played for the Fighting Falcons from 2016- 2020.

 

PLAYERS TO WATCH

STEVEN MATCHAN | 2B / Team Captain

Steven is our starting second baseman and team captain who hits in the middle of the order and serves as a catalyst for our offense. He leads the team in stolen bases and provides both leadership and performance on the field.

JOSEPH TAYLOR | Ace Pitcher

Known as “JT” to his teammates, Joseph is our ace and the leader of our pitching staff. After working through early season challenges, JT has been spectacular down the stretch, dialing in his performance at the perfect time for our playoff run.

CLAUDIO CORRALES | Workhorse Pitcher

Claudio leads the team in appearances and innings pitched, making him the true workhorse of our pitching staff. With extensive experience in high-pressure situations over multiple seasons, Claudio brings valuable playoff experience to the mound as our Game 1 starter.

Facilities

Our baseball program utilizes external facilities for training and competition, giving our student-athletes the resources they need to develop their skills and compete at the highest level.
