How about your own private island Caribbean vacation?
Join us as we base at Little Cay Utila, in the beautiful Bay Islands of Honduras. This is a private island with a simple but comfortable 3 bedroom home and snorkeling right out your door.
This is a perfect location for either a laid back relaxing trip, or a high energy activity filled week, or somewhere in between.
You can choose from a host of activities including snorkeling, kayaking with stable comfortable sit on tops (if you want expedition style cockpitted sea kayaks, see our trip here), stand up paddleboarding, marine ecology and yoga. Plus of course sunset cocktails and plenty of time for relaxation. Scuba diving can also be arranged through private outfitters. We can cater to your group and feature more or less of any activity. Andi Shluker Ryon, (ACA Level 2/3 sea kayak instructor, marine naturalist, yoga instructor, stand up paddleboard guide, and a 7+ year resident of Utila) will be involved with the leadership on all the extended trips through Kayak Utila. Andi is the lead guide for Kayak Utila and also works in Belize on extended week long kayaking and snorkeling trips on the remote island of Glovers Reef Atoll and Lighthouse Reef Atoll, and was the first to offer Stand up Paddleboarding lessons and tours on the island of Utila. Andi is known for offering trips emphasizing marine education, safety, gaining a real skill set, and for her low key, patient attitude to be able to focus the activities on the individual person. Andi also founded Yoga Utila as a way to start building the yoga community here and teaches yoga on island throughout the year.
You can count on learning a host of new paddle skills, lots of snorkeling and learning about the coral reef, daily yoga classes, plenty of time for relaxation, and a spectacular backdrop.
Snorkeling~The coral reef is easily accessible from the shores of either lodging, Utila, either by walk off or by kayak. Your guide Andi is a marine naturalist and will accompany you on the snorkels as well as offer additional land based presentations to make the most out of your snorkeling time. We’ll teach you how to snorkel right out of your kayak on a fantastic living coral reef and also hone your free diving skills and marine ecology knowledge.
Yoga~Andi is a certified yoga instructor, trained in Vinyasa flow, and specializes in teaching classes for those new to yoga as well. She has helped bring yoga to the island with Yoga Utila, with donation based yoga classes. As part of this trip we can offer daily yoga classes at either morning or sunset depending on the group, in either slow/gentle flow, a more vigorous vinyasa, or a soothing restorative class.
Relaxing and Recharging~ Little Cay offers plenty of opportunity and time to get in touch with island time, in a very real way. This may mean really taking the time to take in a sunset or sunrise, taking that hammock nap you’ve been looking forward to, or just spending extra time in the waters snorkeling out front.
Kayaking ~ Our regular trip includes stable “sit on top kayaks”. These are easy to learn in, and very stable for hopping in and out for paddling to snorkel spots. If you desire to paddle in expedition style kayaks, we have that option available with our Expedition Kayak Trip HERE.
Private Island Lodging: We base on the private island (cay) of Little Cay, surrounded by gorgeous coral reefs, which offers us great access to snorkeling and paddling. Lodging at Little Cay is in a 3 bedroom home- we can accommodate bedding to fit your group. The Cay is solar powered with limited electricity, but we’ll have running water and lights as well as a full kitchen. The home is comfortable, but semi-rustic home – the draw to this lodging option is truly having the island to ourselves.
